Mushroom
farmers
have
been using mostly saw-dust as substrates for
planting their mushrooms but there are other areas that are yet untapped, which
is the use of straw, especially rice straw. This course will introduce mushroom
as a means of providing income for business and for home farming. This course
will introduce Oyster mushroom using straws and the various substrates that can
help in mushroom production. The course
will further identify the various types of mushroom that are common within our
community and which will focus on Oyster mushroom which is accepted worldwide.
This course will further
identify various reasons why you should start or venture in mushroom production
either for home consumption or commercial purposes. This will also lead to
point out the health benefits of consuming mushroom. The precaution is also not
left out, because without identifying the precautions or the do’s and don’ts in
mushroom production, it will becomes difficult to know when you are getting a
bad output.
